heather boeckman
Executive director/registrar

Heather has been married to her husband, Kevin since 1994. They have 5 active children she began home-schooling in 2001​. Before children, she was a real estate agent but the Lord allowed her to come home when her first child was born.  She enjoys the opportunity to serve the SGA families and share her love of homeschooling. She loves the beach and takes any chance to visit! She also enjoys reading and playing games. Heather and Kevin are active members of First Baptist Loganville.   Heather’s favorite thing is to spend time with her family! More often than not, you will find her at a game watching her kids play or coach ball!

sara lunsford
Student relations director / fine arts director

Sara graduated from Georgia College and State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career in a fourth grade classroom before moving into middle school math, and then high school theatre. Sara first partnered with SGA as a homeschool parent for one year, which led to her joining SGA’s teaching staff and administration team. Sara will earn her Masters of Arts in Christian Leadership in 2025, and is grateful for the tools she is learning to further develop both her passion for teaching and her heart’s devotion to disciple-making. Sara serves as the Worship Leader for First Conyers Baptist Church, where she is also privileged to direct the Adult Choir, Orchestra, and Children’s Choir. Sara is happily married to her middle school sweetheart, Brian. They have three beautiful children, Selah Grace and their twins, Eleanora and Asher.

Ashley wood
Academic director/asst registrar

Ashley graduated from the University of North Georgia with a B.S. in Biology in December 2015 and started at SGA as a science instructor in 2016. In 2021 Ashley joined the administrative staff and became the Academic Director in 2022. She loves to help and assist others so this has been a role truly given by the Lord. Ashley was also a homeschooled student and is a graduate of Heritage Classical Studies Center. Ashley has been married to her husband, Seth, since January 2016 and together they have four children. Above all, Ashley desires to follow Jesus in obedience throughout every aspect of her life and hopes that the Lord will use her to impact the lives of others.

Karen walker

Karen and her husband, Steve, have been married since 1986 and have three wonderful children, Elizabeth, Anna, and Ben.  Karen holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in elementary education from Furman University and a masters degree in early childhood education from Mercer University. At an early age, Karen felt God leading her to a career in teaching. She taught for ten years in the DeKalb and Gwinnett public schools. Steve and Karen homeschooled their children from kindergarten through high school.  As the children have grown older and moved on to college and careers, Karen is excited to use her call to help and guide students at Scholars Guild Academy. She enjoys reading, animal watching, shopping with her daughters, visiting state parks and taking family trips.

Shelley Yates
finance mananger

Shelley has been married to her husband David, a Walton County and City of Loganville firefighter, since 2001.  They have 2 children, Avery and Kendall, whom she has been homeschooling since 2013. She has a BBA from Georgia State University with a focus in Management. Shelley has been a part of the SGA admin team since 2016. She continues to be thankful for the path the Lord laid out for their family. They all love being a part of the SGA community. (Routinely, you will even see David on campus, being a support any way he can.) In her free time, she enjoys serving at their church, reading, camping, and spending time with her family.

Teffany Whitley
community engagement manager

Teffany and her husband, Anthony, have been happily married since 1996 and are blessed with six beautiful children and four precious grandchildren! They’ve been homeschooling for over 20 years and have had the joy of watching their four oldest children become homeschool graduates - three from SGA! Their youngest two are currently students at SGA. For 7 years, Teffany enjoyed her role as a teacher in the K/4 class at SGA for some of the staff and instructor’s children. She was excited for the opportunity to join the admin team in 2020 to help serve and support the wonderful staff, students, and families at Scholars Guild Academy! Teffany loves spending time with her family, serving alongside her husband in Youth Ministry at their church, exercising, and enjoying as many trips to the beach as possible!
